A World Heritage site. Established in the 6th century, this shrine is one of Japan's finest, and is famous for its beautiful Shinden-zukuri style structure (architecture representative of a nobles' residence in the Heian period). The contrast of the green of Mount Misen behind the lacquered shrine pavilion and the blue of the Seto Sea is beautiful and evocative of the underwater palace of Ryugujo.

This large-scale park was established in 1949 after the Pacific War ended, and is visited by countless visitors as a symbol of peace. The museum within the park is an Important Cultural Property of Japan, and was built to remind future generations of the terror wrought by atomic bombs.

Mitsu no Watashi is a free ferryboat service connecting Mitsu and Minatoyama as a part of the city route in about 2 minutes. It is said to have originated a long time ago when it was established by the Kawano family in Minatoyama around the year 1467.

Yashima-ji Temple

This is the 84th of the 88 sacred temples in the Shikoku Pilgrimage route. This historic temple was founded in 753 and is also famous for its enshrinement of Tanuki (raccoon dogs).
Yakuri-ji Temple
Yakuri-ji Temple
This is the 85th of the 88 sacred temples in the Shikoku Pilgrimage route. Kangiten (Nandikesvara, or Ganesh in the Buddhist pantheon) introduced from India is also enshrined here. Affectionately called Yakuri no Shoten-san, it is cherished by the people as a sacred place to pray for prosperous business, academic achievement, and marriage. The observation deck with a panorama of Takamatsu City is also a highlight.
Okubo-ji Temple

This is the last of the 88 sacred temples in the Shikoku Pilgrimage route, signifying "kechigan," the fulfillment of pilgrim vows. The pilgrims who have completed their pilgrimage dedicate their vajra sticks and hats that they used along the way.
