[Autumn Exclusive] 1-Day Nikko World Heritage Tour (No Lunch) (From Shinjuku)

  • Irohazaka (Iroha Slope)

  • Irohazaka (Iroha Slope)

  • Kegon Falls

  • Nikko Toshogu Shrine - Yomeimon Gate

  • Three Wise Monkeys of Toshogu Shrine

  • Tour Details
1. Delight in the spectacular sight of a whole area dyed in vibrant red, yellow, and orange hues. This bus tour takes customers efficiently around Nikko, a popular destination in autumn among local and international travelers for its beautiful colored leaves.

2. After the main shrine repairs which took about 4 years and cost a total of around JPY 1.2 billion were completed, World Heritage Nikko Toshogu Shrine's national treasure Yomeimon Gate was once again opened to the public in 2017. A National Government Licensed English Guide Interpreter will lead the tour, telling customers about the rich history of the shrines and temples and their architecture brought back to life in vivid colors.

3. In the Okunikko area, visit Kegon Falls, counted among Japan's three greatest waterfalls, as well as Lake Chuzenji, a scenic lake about 25 km in circumference and 163 m in depth formed around 20,000 years ago from an eruption of Mt. Nantai which blocked the valley.

4. Travel back in time to the Edo Period (1603-1868)! There will be a stopover at the Hanyu Parking Area, which reproduces the Edo-style atmosphere. See the beautiful structures and famous long-established shops dating back to the Edo Period, and enjoy shopping for souvenirs. *See Remarks.

5. Despite the tour being held in travel season when traffic congestion is expected, taking approx. 3 hours at most one way from Shinjuku to Nikko, there will be 2 drivers present to ensure safe operation. And along the way, customers can enjoy the long drive while listening to stories about Nikko's nature, culture, and history from the National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter.

6. While congestion is expected at the location, an audio service with which explanations from the National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter can be heard will be available.

While congestion is expected as it is a popular sightseeing area, the tour will be led to all destinations (Toshogu Shrine, Kegon Falls, Lake Chuzenji, Hanyu Parking Area) as long as there is no inclement weather or unexpected accident or traffic jam. The tour is scheduled to end at 20:00. Thank you for your understanding.  There are 2 drivers available for bus operation.

- If the listed locations cannot be visited due to unavoidable reasons, any of the following will be visited instead of Kegon Falls and Lake Chuzenji: Tamozawa Imperial Villa, Kirifuri Falls, Taiyuuin Mausoleum at Rinno-ji Temple, Futarasan Shrine, etc. No refunds will be issued as a result of location changes.

- As the tour uses a bus for the entire itinerary, arrivals at each site may be delayed due to road conditions.

- The charge to take the Kegon Falls elevator is not included in the booking price. Admire the waterfall from the observation deck facing the falls free of charge.

- Depending on road conditions, the tour may stop at a different parking area (rest area) instead of the Hanyu Parking Area. In this case, please note that the different rest area will not be a representation of an Edo Period town.
