1. Tokaido (eastern sea route), a main road for travelers, connected Edo (modern-day Tokyo) and Kyoto in Japan's recent past. The part of the highway in the Hakone district is called Hakone Hachiri, and is known to be one of its more perilous parts that includes a mountain crossing. At Hakone Hachiri, stone-paved paths and cedar trees form a scenery that has remained unchanged from around 400 years ago. Together with a National Government Licensed English Guide Interpreter, walk along a part of the Hakone Hachiri and experience traveling back in time to the recent past. (1 ri = approx. 4 km)
