- This round-trip tour from Tokyo spanning 7 days takes customers to experience the tradition and culture in all of northeastern Japan's prefectures: Miyagi (Sendai), Fukushima (Aizuwakamatsu), Yamagata/Akita (Kakunodate), Iwate (Morioka), and Aomori (Oirase). On this course, customers can experience traditional crafts, culture, nature, and other aspects of life in the region of Tohoku. Filled with charms of the Tohoku region that await visitors, this course offers experiences that are truly out of the ordinary. The entire itinerary is accompanied by an English-speaking guide from arrival in Sendai on Day 1 until the hotel in Aomori on Day 6. (There is an accompanying English-speaking assistant on Day 1 at Tokyo Station and on Day 7 between Aomori Station and Shin-Aomori Station. )
- On Day 1, take the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Sendai, the largest city in northeastern Japan. On the chopsticks lacquering experience, apply the techniques from making the traditional craft of Sendai tansu (traditional Japanese chests made with wood and iron fittings) under the direct supervision of artisans. At Jogi Nyorai Saiho-ji Temple, feel free to offer heartfelt prayers for the blessing of marriage and fertility, and experience the spiritual culture of Japan. Furthermore, witness a sake-brewing tradition passed down for over 100 years as well as innovative techniques that evolve with the times at Nakayu Sake Brewery, which was established in 1906. Take a tour inside a sake brewery, which is not usually open to the public, and gain a deeper insight into the profound world of Japanese sake. Relish the charm of Tenjo Mugen, created with rice, water, and skills of the master brewer, and experience the depth of Japanese sake nurtured by the nature of Miyagi.
- On Day 2, enjoy a day trip that condenses the history and culture of Fukushima Prefecture. At the symbol of Aizuwakamatsu, Tsuruga Castle, learn about the tragic story of the Byakkotai and tour around the only castle in Japan with a red-roofed castle tower together with an English-speaking guide. At Ouchi-juku, behold a landscape with thatched-roof houses that makes it feel as if having slipped back in time to the Edo period (1603-1868). In addition, experience painting an akabeko, a traditional toy in Aizu. Enjoy Japan's history, traditional culture, and beautiful landscapes all at once.
- On Day 3, head to Yamagata Prefecture which is famous for fruits like cherries and La France pears, accessible in about an hour and a half by car from Sendai. At Jion-ji Temple, which has a history of 1,300 years, experience Japanese Buddhist culture surrounded by important cultural properties such as statues and buildings. Boasting a history of about 500 years, Ginzan Onsen is attractive for its retro scenery. The streets that retain the remnants of the Edo period are lined with cafes, street food spots, and souvenir shops, allowing visitors to enjoy a nostalgic Japanese atmosphere.
- On Day 4, head to Akita Prefecture's Kakunodate, the so-called Little Kyoto of Tohoku lined with samurai residences. The beautiful scenery creates an atmosphere as if having slipped back in time to the Edo period (1603-1868). The Iaido experience in Kakunodate is an authentic opportunity to deeply engage with the spirit of Japanese martial arts for 2 and a half hours. Put on a training uniform and learn the spirit and manners of the samurai while mastering the basic handling and forms of the Japanese sword.
- On Day 5, head to Iwate Prefecture's Morioka, which flourished as a castle town and has a townscape characterized by a harmony of tradition and modernity even today. At Kunzan Kobo, take this rare opportunity of getting in touch with the charm of Morioka's traditional craft, Nambu ironware. At Chuson-ji Temple, behold the Konjikido Golden Hall and various national treasures and important cultural properties. Japan's history and aesthetic sense are condensed amidst a tranquil atmosphere, creating a mystical space that cleanses the heart and providing a valuable opportunity to touch upon the spirituality of Japan.
- On Day 6, head on to Aomori Prefecture, known for having the highest apple production in the country and is attractive for its beautiful natural scenery such as the Oirase Gorge. At Oirase Gorge, take a short walk at scenic spots along the beautiful stream—Samidare-no-Nagare, Ashura-no-Nagare, Kumoi Falls, and Choshi Otaki Waterfall. At the Hakkoda Mountains, visit a scenic spot overlooking the whole of Aomori Prefecture. On clear days, visitors can feel the grandeur of Aomori's terrain and nature as they gaze out at the Tsugaru Plain, Mutsu Bay, and the Shimokita Peninsula all at once.
