  • Tour Details
1. This tour is accompanied by a National Government Licensed English Guide Interpreter who knows a lot about sumo. Sit back and relax on reserved S-class chair seating (1st floor), watch Japan’s national sport, and enjoy a unique experience amid an immersive atmosphere that's simply not possible by just watching on TV! Come face to face with culture that has been kept alive through many years, such as the presence of a referee which began in the Sengoku period (about 1467-1603), and the use of vivid 'kesho-mawashi' ceremonial aprons and the ring entering procession which have continued from the Edo period (1603-1868).

2. Before watching, there will be a sumo lecture for customers to better enjoy and understand the Grand Sumo Tournament.

3.One of the main attractions of the Provincial Tour is its atmosphere where viewers can feel close to the sumo wrestlers, unlike the harsh competitive environment of the Grand Sumo Tournament.
Enjoy traditional sumo culture as entertainment in programs such as shokkiri, where sumo wrestlers introduce prohibited moves in sumo in a fun skit, and a performance of the sumo jinku folk song.

4. Includes a Japanese bento box meal and tea. Enjoy a bento box meal on S-class chair seating while watching the sumo match.

5. All tour participants will receive ""The Sumo,"" a booklet about sumo (in English) as a gift! It has easy-to-understand explanations about the origins of sumo wrestling, match rules, reading the banzuke list, enjoying the ceremony, and more, so feel free to use it during the sumo viewing.

6. Maiko postcards will be handed out as souvenirs from Kyoto.
